These direct mailer kits started with a 7-1/8″ x 5-1/8″ x 1/2″ deep sales box with a full flap. The 5″x 7″ cards that slide in them are printed and adhered to 110pt binders board – so they have strength and heft to them. Not using print materials is slowing you down even in the age of the internet.
People respond to tactile things. There is a deep need to feel, to touch, that stimulates different parts of the brain than visual stimulation alone. Even if you are a completely online company, the chances are you can gain more clients and customer by having print materials.
Print is an experience -The psychology of print
Perception is an active process. Touch includes information about you (e.g. your muscles, joints) as well as about what you are touching. To “be in touch with” a product, company or person is a primary urge. Our first intelligence is sensory refinement.
The experience of holding something in our hands changes how we perceive a product. Retail stores know that if you pick something up, you are much more likely to buy it. From Apple computers to clothing, stores are set up to engage you tactually and emotionally.
Printed materials offer a chance to present your brand quality, strength, and other qualities (eco friendly, glossy, solid, trustworthy) through a second channel. What you say can be backed up through more primal clues that reinforce and strengthen the logical arguments.
Print offers permanence
